Terms and Conditions
Music Shakers operates as an unincorporated collective of teachers led by Marcella Erskine, who founded the organization in Birmingham, UK and can be reached at 323 Routledge Road, Edmonton, Alberta T6R 1B9, Canada or via the contact page.
The teachers providing Music Shakers classes include Rachel Xerri-Brooks, Emma Watson and Fiona Howe, who can be reached at 168 Park Road, Bearwood, Birmingham, West Midlands B67 5HU United Kingdom.
Music Shakers classes are offered in churches, village halls, community centres, libraries, schools or day nurseries where the teacher delivers a class on a weekly basis. Our teachers are DBS checked and hold current public liability insurance cover.
Class Bookings
Children need to be registered for the current term in order to attend a class. Parents or carers ("members") who have registered for a class will be charged for the full term or for a half term's classes. The first trial of a class is free.
Course Materials
A Song Book will be given to each registered member each term as a secure PDF file or hard-copy booklet.
The accompanying CD is optional and is available for purchase from on-line retailers, and if possible as a physical CD from the teacher.
Certificates will be awarded at the end of each term to recognize the children who have completed the term.
Class Fees
Class fees are due termly or half-termly in advance, and may differ depending on the teacher and area.
Classes
Classes are typically forty minutes in duration for family class and thirty minutes for baby class, and are given on a weekly basis during term time.
Fees for classes which are missed due to a child's non-attendance cannot be refunded, although another make-up class may be scheduled in case of illness subject to approval by the Teacher.
Should a class need to be cancelled by the Teacher, the Teacher may decide that the fee for that class will be credited in cash or against the next term's fees, or the class will be held at another time or location.
Parental Obligations
Child Safety
While our teachers endeavour to provide a safe environment, the Parent and/or Caregiver agrees and accepts sole responsibility for the conduct, welfare, safety and care of their child or children during the class and whilst on the premises where the Music Shakers Class is held.
Children should not attend classes while they are suffering from a contagious illness such as chicken pox, conjunctivitis, diarrhoea or impetigo. If your child has a medical conditions that you feel we should know about, please inform the Teacher.
Should you wish to take personal photographs or videos of your child while in class you must get the permission of all other parents of the children who could be involved. Music Shakers forbids the right to reproduce any part of our lessons in any form including on the internet, CDs, DVDs or photographs.
Limitation of Liability
Neither Music Shakers nor any Teacher, agent or other representative of Music Shakers accepts responsibility in respect of loss, damage or expense incurred by a child, participant, parent or carer arising directly or indirectly or in any way connected with the attendance of the child, participant, parent or carer at any of the classes or any other act or omission on the part of Music Shakers, or it's Teachers, or agents or representatives.
Confidentiality
We collect information via registration forms and subscription in order to contact people about class dates, fees, news and changes such as cancellations. The forms are stored securely and the emails are used to contact members by mailchimp about once per term. The data is not disclosed to any third parties. People may ask what data is held about them, and they can unsubscribe at any time or have their personal data be erased or rectified.
Our registration forms ask whether we can share pictures taken in class for Music Shakers advertising and marketing purposes.
We are committed to providing the best possible service to all class participants, and welcome newcomers and enquiries.
Should there be any specific queries about a class, please direct these to your Teacher in the first instance.
Parents and carers must not be involved either directly or indirectly in any business which operates in the same business market as Music Shakers or which is in competition with Music Shakers nor must they take any material or replicate any of the Music Shakers business system or materials for their own business use or via a third party.
